Requirements
Installation
-
Prior
to installation, please
ensure that the SQL
Server service is running.
For SQL Server 2000
installations, make
sure the service for
the instance you wish
to install the central
collection database
on is running.
-
A
Windows NT user name
(including domain)
must be provided for
an individual who will
be designated as a
RoboMon Event Monitor
Security Administrator.
This individual will
be responsible for
adding new RoboMon
Event Monitor users
(including additional
security administrators),
and modifying security
settings for existing
RoboMon Event Monitor
users. The default
selection for this
user is the user performing
the installation.
-
To
initiate the installation,
browse to the directory
the RoboMon Web Event
Monitor setup kit was
downloaded and extracted
to, or the robomon\Web_Mon
directory on the RoboMon
CD, and run setup.exe.
-
Due
to the complexity of
the database, and depending
on the processor speed,
installed memory, and
application load of
the server being installed
to, it will take several
minutes (5 or more)
for the database creation
process to complete.
During this time, a
message box indicating
that the database is
being created will
be displayed. Please
do not terminate the
setup process at this
time. Although it may
appear that the installation
has hung, it most likely
is simply requiring
time to create the
database.
Access
- To access the RoboMon
Web Event Monitor after
setup has been completed,
point your browser to
http://[SERVER]/RoboMonEventMonitor/, where [SERVER] is the fully
qualified DNS name of the IIS server.
Configuration
-
Users
will be required to
provide a Windows NT
login accepted by the
IIS server to access
the RoboMon Web Event
Monitor. Additionally,
they will need to be
added to the internal
security database by
a RoboMon Web Event
Monitor Security Administrator.
The RoboMon Web Event
Monitor requires an
authenticated login.
Anonymous access is
not supported.
-
To
maximize the potential
of the RoboMon Web
Event Monitor, you
should configure all
RoboMon installations
within your enterprise
to forward events to
the server. This can
be achieved through
the Event Server Configuration
tool within the RoboMon
Enterprise Manager.
To minimize unnecessary
network traffic, utilize
event filtering to
limit forwarding to
important events.
For more detailed information,
after completing the installation,
view the online help file
at
http://[SERVER]/RoboMonEventMonitor/Help.asp, where [SERVER] is the
fully qualified DNS name of the IIS server.
