Clarity to Complex IT Application Performance
and Network Monitoring Problems
Longitude V5 Agentless Software Consolidates and Correlates Performance Metrics to Ensure Control of IT Environments and Optimal Business Performance
Newton, MA –
June 18, 2007 – Heroix, a leading provider
of agentless, multiplatform application performance
and network monitoring software, today announced
the general availability of Longitude V5, the
latest update of their award winning IT infrastructure
monitoring and reporting software for Windows,
Linux and Unix platforms. Longitude consolidates
and correlates application, server, network, Service
Level Agreement (SLA), and IT infrastructure performance
metrics to help organizations bring clarity to
their complex information technology environment
and ensure optimal business performance.
Longitude V5 focuses on providing organizations
the ability to manage IT performance and business
service levels. New features accelerate time to
deployment, deliver immediate insight, and expedite
the resolution of IT performance problems. Customized
real-time dashboards, reports and alerts, along
with topology based-views and annotations for
reports and SLAs, make it easy to identify the
relationship between certain events and their
impact on business service levels. The latest
release also adds the ability to generate synthetic
Web transactions and monitor virtual machines.
“Important findings or knowledge can be
obscured by a deluge of IT data,” said Jasmine
Noel, Co-founder, Ptak, Noel & Associates.
“Often business stakeholders reading an
SLA report or IT managers collaborating on problem
resolution have to decode various unfamiliar charts
and reports, and they usually end up with more
questions than answers. Longitude’s new
features focus on bringing the most relevant information
into relief so that the meaning of the data is
clearer. With more understanding comes faster
problem resolution and better decision making.”
“Our customers rely upon us to ensure optimal
performance of their critical IT business operations,”
said Michael Hillenbrand, Director of AES Select
Outsourcing at Access Enterprise Solutions, a
provider of selective outsourcing, strategic consulting,
and ERP optimization services. “Longitude’s
agentless architecture provides us a robust, easily
configured solution for monitoring customer SLAs.
With Longitude, we are able to add significant
value for our clients, as well as greatly reduce
the workload of our support personnel. In less
than one hour, we were able to install, customize
and configure the operating system and database
monitors to give us an overall view of the health
of the entire system. We were sold on this product
from day one and it has become an essential part
of our service offering.”
Longitude’s advanced new features include:
- Annotated SLAs and Reports:
Performance
reports can now self-annotate by linking performance
metrics with underlying event information, allowing
immediate drill down for troubleshooting. Additionally,
users can now add comments to reports and SLAs,
such as background information about events
or actions taken in response to a problem situation
giving keholders a complete picture and understanding
of the issue, cause, impact, and corrective
measures.
- Synthetic Web Transactions:
Essential for understanding and effectively
managing Web user experiences, synthetic web
transactions provide a critical piece to the
business service puzzle. Longitude can now measure
how users actually interact with Web-based applications,
and incorporate those metrics into SLA monitoring,
for a view that relates the end user experience
to the key infrastructure components that support
the application and its associated business
service.
- Topology Based Network Representation:
Graphical representations of resources
based on geography, network topology or logical
hierarchy make it easy to locate and prioritize
problems. IT organizations can utilize built-in
maps and grids or supply their own maps, facility
photos, network diagrams, or other images.
- Auto Discovery and Other Scalability
Enhancements: Consistent with
Longitude’s Hour One Deployment goal,
the auto discovery capability automatically
scans and identifies the key applications and
systems present on the network that need to
be monitored – eliminating the manual
task of setting up elements to be monitored.
Longitude V5 also supports schedules for notifications
and actions, as well as the suppression of events
for maintenance periods and other expected situations.
- VMware Monitoring and Other Expanded
Coverage: In response to the
growing prevalence of virtualized computing
environments, Longitude V5 monitors the virtual
machine images themselves as well as the impact
of those virtual machines on the physical hardware.
Longitude V5 also adds support for monitoring
IBM Director, WebSphere V6, SQL Server 2005,
network shares, and log files.
Pricing and Availability:
Longitude V5 is available now. The pricing for
basic OS monitoring starts at $299 per monitored
system. Heroix offers a 14-day
free trial of Longitude as well as an online
Flash
demo.
