Longitude Cited by Customers for Ease of Use and Cost-Effectiveness
Survey also Documents Ongoing Need for Proactive Monitoring

- September 4, 2007 - Heroix, a leading provider of agentless, multiplatform application performance and network monitoring software, today announced that a survey of its Longitude customers reveals that ease of use and cost-effectiveness were among the priorities when choosing a monitoring product. The survey also shows that among the pressing needs of IT managers and organizations, proactive monitoring is of top concern.
The survey was conducted by third party industry experts Ptak, Noel and Associates, LLC. Participants participated in either an online survey or a phone interview with a PNA analyst.
More than half the participants said they chose Longitude because of its ease of use, and 47% cited its cost-effectiveness. When asked about installation time, half said that it took only minutes and another 26% estimated that deployment took just a few hours.
The survey also revealed that among the priorities of IT organizations, of top concern was the need to be proactive. An overwhelming 72% said that the inability to detect service problems within their organization was concerning because of the time spent trying to find problems after they occurred. However, most of those said that in less than one month of deploying Longitude they were able to find problems before they received user complaints. Many customers experienced those benefits within two weeks of deployment.
"The research shows that IT managers know they must be more proactive in resolving problems with less effort in order to deliver better service performance at lower costs," said Jasmine Noel, Founder of Ptak, Noel & Associates. "It is interesting to see how quickly Heroix customers see the benefits they are looking for. That quick time-to-value can only be achieved if the product is extremely easy to install and use."
One customer responding to the survey - an electronics manufacturing company -estimated that after deploying Longitude, IT was able to triple the number of problems they could identify before business processes were interrupted. The same customer stated that "typical service issues that used to take days to resolve were now being cleared within hours," saving them critical IT manpower and ultimately helping the bottom line.
"The advantages of proactive monitoring are clearly shown in this survey," said Rick Lane, Heroix President. This saves them time and money and allows IT to focus on strategic organizational objectives rather than on constantly finding and fixing problems after they've occurred."
